Living Room Reveal!

Here it is folks!  In the past two or three months, I've posted about different finds I had for the living room. Now I finally feel like I can show it off to you!

{some great accents!  The candle holders are from Target and were a great gift from Tanya, and the lamp is a redo that i did from a Salvation Army Store find!}

So excited to be done with the room!  What do you think?

Bathroom Brainstorming

I don't know if anyone else has had a hard time decorating a bathroom without using a shower curtain.. but our downstairs bathroom presented me with just this problem. 

I didn't want to paint in there yet.. but wanted to add some color and freshness..

Plus I thought maybe it would be a good summer home for my deer.. until he finds his way back to the christmas decorations of course...

So, does the curtain fool you? 

Does it look like a full bath, instead of a half?

I am thinking about putting up beadboard and chair rail and painting the top half a light blue or maybe even a turquoise color?  Ugh.. if it isn't neutral we have to paint it back!  Oh, the joys of renting!

Decorating the Bedroom

Our bedroom has been waiting to be given some TLC for a while now..  When we moved in I started focusing on other rooms first like the living room (it's almost done!)  and just figured that I would get to it eventually.  Here is my inspiration room..  i love this room from the HGTV Dream Home 2009!

I love the white bed with bright colors, the cheery walls and the open but cozy feeling of it!

Well, This past weekend I finally got around to giving our bedroom a bit more love.  We had painted an accent wall about a week or two after we moved in, but that was pretty much all that had been done.  It is a really pretty geen color called "Bamboo Shoot" from Lowe's Valspar line.

Over the past week I have been slowly working towards getting more done in there!

I painted some picture frames from our wedding a really pretty glossy white....

I hung up some cubes... {instead of doing a wall of pictures like the inspiration room}

Added some cute chachkies.. {i love how the white accents pop against the green wall}

Hung up some curtains... {i opted for green instead of white, since the main walls in the room are white}

And some adorable bedding...  {i definitely wanted to have some pops of bright color}

And...Tada!

Obviously much, much different than the inspiration room.. but I think it has some of the same feel to it.  I wanted it to feel relaxed, like you could curl up and read a book in there all day.

The other half of the room isn't really done yet.. still trying to find the perfect chair to add to our nook!

Linen Closet.. Organization Challenge #4

My first step towards our bathroom makeover, and part of my 21 Days to Getting Organized Challenge!

Our house does not actually have a linen closet... so since we moved in, I have been storing the towels and sheets here...  in a plastic tub under the bathroom counter:

Classy, no?

Well, I think it's about time for an upgrade!  

So,  there is also this little nook in the bathroom:

Presumably where a normal homebuilder would have put a shower stall, but apparently not the builder that did our house.   It doesn't even have an outlet to make it a more usable space.  

But I digress..  To change this space into our new "linen closet" I took one of our Ikea 3 drawer chests, the shower curtain from our old house, and my favorite orchid plant.. and... {drumroll please}

Tada!

All of our towels and sheets have a brand new home!

We will see how long I can keep it looking this good!

Spring Cleaning has arrived!

Living Room Makeover - Part 4

Well, here it is folks!  The latest addition to the living room.  I know, I know, when the heck is this room ever going to be seen as a whole??  Soon, grasshopper, very soon.  I've got a lead on some tables, and the treadmill might be getting out soon too so we are getting closer!

This is our new Military Legacy Sign from Saying Grace Signs.  Jeanette did a fantastic job!  They have a lot of choices, and picking out the style and color took me a while (mostly because I am super picky) but she did a great job!

Spring Fair

Whew!  What a day!  We went to the Spring Fair in Puyallup today and had a fantastic time!  We had some yummy fair food including Krusty Pups (Corn Dogs) and an Elephant Ear...  Hubby won me some cuddly little stuffed animals at the fair games that they had...

There were lumberjack competitions...

And a dancing sheep named Buster...

And Wool Riding for the kids...

and a fantastic log carver!

This is Joaquin Quezada of Creative Wood Sculpture from Enumclaw, WA.  They had an amazing booth set up with some super cute sculptures!

We decided that these two cute bears would be perfect to take home with us!  

So they painted them just for us and got them all ready to go!

So adorable!  And now they have a new spot to welcome everyone to our new home!

It is so neat having seen our bears from start to finish!

Living Room Makeover - Part 3

Well, things are really starting to shape up around here!  The room is almost public ready folks!  I found a few more goodies (at great prices!) for the living room.  I also decided to take some items out of the room that I originally thought I would use, like our canvases from our wedding pictures.  I think those will find a new home in the hallway.

We now have a snazzy new area rug in here that brings the room together.  I love all of the different shades it brought in!  It gives me more to work with when I'm looking for new stuff.

I also made a little arrangement that helps hide some of the outlets in the room.  It came together pretty well.

I also put up our stars!  I started the collection when we lived in the townhouse, and my friend Jamie helped me get a few more after the move.  I'm not sure I like how they are hung yet, so we will see.

Living Room Makeover - Part 2

So, prior to this post you got to see how the living room went from this:

Already much better, no?  I am loving the color!

Now the fun really begins!  A few weeks ago, there was a Groupon for CanvasOnDemand.com and I snatched it up!

1.  If you are not already a Groupon subscriber, I highly recommend it! I saved $126 on these!!  Whooohooo!

2.  Picking one wedding picture out of 768 to put on said canvas took way longer than I thought it would.

Here's what we got!

This is actually one of our engagement pictures taken by my big brother!  Pretty cute!

Okay, I know... ewww!  Such a mushy picture!  But, this is one of my favorites of our wedding day.  We were walking through the downtown area on the way to the ceremony.  Catchlight Photography is amazing and I highly recommend them to anyone seeking photography services in NorthWest Arkansas.

So these two amazing new canvas pieces will be going in the living room!  So excited about the house coming together.  The rest of the room isn't public ready yet, so you'll just have to wait and see how it turns out!

Living Room Makeover Part 1

One of the most exciting things about our new home is that we are allowed to paint!  As an added bonus, if we use neutral colors and do a good job, we don't even have to paint it back to boring white when we leave to our next duty station!

So as a wrap up to an absolutely crazy weekend at work, I somehow pulled out a second, third, and fourth wind of energy and went to work transforming our living room into a more cozy and relaxing space for us.

Before today, I was a room painting virgin.  But somehow, without the assistance of Hubby I managed to navigate my way through the painting section of the local Lowe's store, buy the supplies, prep the living room, and complete the project!

The color is called Cinnamon Sugar from Valspar, and I love it!  I'll add another picture of it during the day and after it's dry too.

Keepin' it Cute

Kept myself entertained by making a cute new name canvas to 

hang over Lucy's new dog bowls.  Love it!

O Christmas Tree!

The best part of having Jeremiah home for the holidays this year is that we get to start making our own traditions!  We got to get all the Christmas decorations out and put up the tree today.  We even made some stovetop popcorn to make the garland. :)  I am so excited about how it turned out!
